Jalen Wilkins-McCoy slammed the door shut on Fort Scott in a dramatic 68-63 win over the visiting Greyhounds, Friday, Dec. 9, at the Holiday Classic.
Southeast came back from an early 13 point second half deficet to even up the game at 63 with 4.7 seconds remaining. Just moments earlier, SCC ran a play coming out of a time-out where Richie Rodger tried to find McCoy with an alley-oop play. Unfortunately, the pass was too high and SCC lost possesion. After a series of timeouts for both teams to dial up what they wanted to do next, Taylor Britt stole the ball after the inbounds, flipped it to McCoy who slammed it down, and drew a foul to make it a three point play. McCoy made it, and then two more free throws after SCC was fouled again iced the game for Southeast.
McCoy lead the team with 20 points on 8-9 shooting. Wesley Nosakhare added 10 points. Southeast shot well, hitting 55.1 percent. The Storm overcame the hot shooting of Fort Scott's Dematrice Walker and Tyler Zinn. Walker scored 21 points, and Zinn was perfect from the field, hitting 7-7 from the field, including 5-5 from beyond the arc.
The win improved SCC to 7-6 on the season.
