North Central was too much for Southeast to handle in a 95-59 victory Wednesday night at the Truman Center. The Lady Pirates showed why they were the 13th ranked team in the country, as they used overwhelming offense and hot shooting to power their way to the easy victory.
SCC was able to stay close in the 1st quarter as they forced four turnovers including two steals by DeAsia Walker. Marcia Hawkins had eight points on 4/4 shooting. However, Kendey Eaton scored 11 points and was 3/3 from beyond the arc to power North Central to a 30-21 lead.
The Lady Storm went cold in the 2nd quarter, being outscored 17-9, and the Lady Pirates raced away from Southeast for the remainder of the game.
North Central enjoyed a decisive rebounding advantage at 48-31. Eaton played their offense to a tune of seven assists, and the Lady Pirates dished out 29 total on the game.
Hawkins led Southeast with 18 points on 8/10 shooting. Sebit Gatluak just missed a double/double, scoring 10 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Gatluak also garnered six assists. Samm Jett led North Central with 17 points. Four other Lady Pirates scored in double figures.
The loss dropped SCC's record to 6-10 on the season. They return home Friday, Jan. 26 to take on Midland JV.
